Study Abroad Side Trips, Who is Responsible?

Partner Janet Linton recently prevailed on an appeal brought by the Plaintiff in Boisson v. AZ Board of Regents, et. al. (1 CA-CV- 13-0588). Victory for Partners Peter Akmajian and Tom Laue Commercial in Litigation Case

Arizona Law Grants Employees Victim Leave Rights

Employers with 50 or more employees are required to allow an employee who was the victim of a crime or a juvenile offense to leave work to exercise the right to be present at court hearings or to seek an order of protection or injunction against harassment.  This means that an employer may not discipline or dismiss an employee who is the victim of a crime because the employee chooses to exercise those rights.  An employer also cannot discriminate against … Continue reading

Don’t get a yellow card, AZ Corp Comm now let’s you set up a reminder

Arizona Corporations are required to file an annual report with the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC). Failure to file these reports on time subjects the corporations to fines and possible dissolution. Corporations paid the State $1.16 million in penalties for late filings during the 2013 fiscal year. Of the more than 213,000 corporations registered in Arizona, almost 40,000 failed to file their annual reports on time. The Firm represented the custom home builder in defending the home owner claims, and asserted third party claims against certain subcontractors for deficient work.
